Enjoy Lima and its surroundings by bicycle
Cloudy and misunderstood. There’s something refreshing and attractive about its charcoal cliffs sweeping across the shoreline. Chaotic traffic bordering the coastline, a city clouded in history, exquisite gastronomy, eye-catching murals splattered with street art and culinary delights. If you’re thinking about skipping Lima… don’t.
This vibrant city is full of unique gems, with most of them still unheard of by visiting tourists.
With the laid back areas of Miraflores and Barranco, its wild beaches along the Costa Verde, and also some awesome museums in the centre, there’s really something for everyone here.
The capital of Peru also has many must-visit spots too, such as the San Francisco Catacombs, and the Plaza de Armas (where the current president resides).
Once you’re done trying the whole feast of amazing dishes on offer here, you’ll then want to get out and explore the surrounding region.

Bicycle route
We start from our location in Miraflores heading south, always on bike paths.
We passed through Kennedy Park or also called Cat Park.
We will arrive at the most romantic place in Lima: the park of love where we will appreciate the sculpture THE KISS by the Peruvian Victor Delfin. This place is similar to the Paque Guel in Barcelona and is due to the style that the Peruvian artist shares with his Spanish counterpart.
We will continue along the Miraflores boardwalk passing by the second most visited place after Machu Picchu: Larcomar shopping center. This shopping center is ideal to go for lunch or dinner and taste delicious Peruvian food. There are very good and renowned restaurants and cafes where you will also enjoy a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean.
We will arrive at the Barranco viewpoint located on Saez Peña street and we will contemplate the bay of Lima and the San Lorenzo islands and the fronton. Here we will tell you what these islands have in common with Alcatraz Island in San Francisco, California.
We will go a little further away from the cliffs to see the old colorful Barranquina houses and enjoy their late 19th century architecture with large wooden doors and windows. Here we will also enjoy the graffiti and see why Barranco is known as the bohemian and artistic neighborhood of Lima.
